It’s been over two and a half years (July 2012) since the last reportable accident on any of our active sites. This milestone is testament to the success of Bethell’s behavioural safety programme, “THINK SAFE, ACT SAFE”. There has been a steady fall in accident frequency ever since the launch of the Programme which in 2009. That means we have 1,000,000 Accident Free Hours!
Ian Madden, HSQE Director, is quick to praise the workforce. “The company is constantly empowering its employees at all levels to be focused and more aware of safety on site and this remarkable achievement shows the constant focus of all our 150 employees in making safety personal”.
“It’s no coincidence that for the last four years we have also achieved the ROSPA Gold Award for our achievements in managing and commitment to safety and, in this 150th Anniversary year, it’s really appropriate that we have achieved this 1,000,000 hours target. The promotion and constant input with regard to behavioural safety and hazard spotting is a massive contributor to us reaching this goal. In addition it must be noted the dedication and hard work of our employees who are constantly working in challenging construction, utility and highway environments and a huge thanks must go to all our employees who, through their commitment at all levels, have made this proud achievement possible”.
