Bethell’s efforts in successfully delivering a very challenging project at Lancashire Bridge in Stockport town centre were recognised by our peers within the civil engineering industry at the annual Civil Engineering Contractor’s Association awards ceremony held at the Hilton Deansgate, Manchester on 30th October. The ‘Project of the Year Award’ was won by Bethell as part of our Highway Structures Strategic Alliance with Stockport MBC and engineering consultants, Wilde and Partners. Despite there being a record number of entries from contractors across the north western region, Bethell and the Strategic Alliance Team picked up the award for the innovative approach of opening up the concealed bridge which in the long-term will save the Council money, compliments the regeneration of the town centre and provides attractive views of the River Mersey which had been hidden for almost 80 years.
