Another Sellafield Success for Bethell

Morgan Sindall have selected Bethell as their delivery partner to construct all civil engineering works for the new FGMSP office building at Sellafield in Cumbria.

The £0.8m scheme is set to commence in June and involves all below ground drainage, highway works and reinforced concrete foundations. The main building foundation includes over 500m3 of concrete and over 60 tonnes of steel reinforcement. Substantial drainage diversions are also required as part of the scheme.

This contract award swiftly follows the recent completion of another significant civil engineering project at Sellafield, the £1.0m enabling contract for Silo Maintenance Facility (SMF) undertaken by Bethell for the  Balfour Beatty / Cavendish Nuclear JV.

Bethell Construction’s Managing Director, Vinny O’Dowd, commented “ we are delighted to be entrusted to deliver another substantial project within the highly regulated environment at Sellafield. This latest contract award at the Plant for Morgan Sindall is just reward for our investment in nuclear sector training and hopefully we can build on our reputation for delivering high quality work to the highest safety standards.”
