Meet the latest and tallest additions to our plant fleet at Bethell!
Bethell procured two new cranes to meet the growing requirements of the Bethell Construction operational team: a Hitachi-Sumitomo SCX800A-3 80T lattice boom crawler crane and a Liebherr LTR 1060 60T telescopic crawler crane.
Once deployed, the two cranes will manage lifting requirements for civil infrastructure projects and facilitate the delivery of complex projects for our valued clients, particularly our expanding pipeline of shaft sinking & tunnelling projects.
Commenting on the value for clients that the recent plant investment will provide, Operations Director Matthew Burke said: “To meet the requirements of our growing portfolio of civil engineering and tunnelling projects, we invested in the best for our clients. Bethell selected Liebherr due to their industry expertise, German engineering quality and excellent safety equipment; Hitachi-Sumitomo for their history of successful delivery; and the UK’s specialist crane expert NRC for technical support.”
To meet the requirements of our growing portfolio of civil engineering and tunnelling projects, we invested in the best for our clients.

Ronan Kilroe, Plant Operations Manager, celebrated the new arrivals, saying: “For me personally, this has been a very satisfying project to work on from start to finish, one that has been over a year in the making! From deciding the specification with Matt and discussions with our operations team to seeing it right the way through to deciding the final smaller details like paintwork & livery, I think we can all agree that as well as providing the strength in lifting capabilities, they really do look the part too.”
“It has been a long time since we have had larger cranes within the business and I have often heard stories as well as seen pictures of ones we have had in the fleet in the past with The Kilroe Group, so I’m very proud to bring that element of the fleet back again to Bethell Plant. Our operators have been in for training on the 2 new cranes in the yard this last week and they all seem made up with them, so I think that’s an important factor too – just can’t wait to get them out working on a project now!”
