Bethell secures prestigious RoSPA president’s award for 12th year running!
Bethell Group, one of the UK’s leading independently owned civil engineering and utility services groups, has once again been recognised with the RoSPA President’s Health and Safety Award!
The 2022 President Award recognises Bethell’s 12th consecutive year of an industry leading approach to health and safety, which began with the introduction of its group-wide behavioural change programme. This has subsequently evolved with a new “Work Safe, Home Safe” safety ethos, as well as other ongoing initiatives such as hazard spotting campaigns, positive intervention drives, regular Safety Stand Down Days and ongoing root cause investigative training for our site managers. This year, almost 2,000 entrants strived to qualify for RoSPA’s highest possible accolade, in the UK’s longest-running H&S industry awards. Bethell’s ability to maintain twelve consecutive years of Gold recognition has only been possible due to the commitment and hard work of our employees and interacting supply chain partners.
Group Chief Executive Tim Kilroe said: “We owe a vote of thanks to all our staff, particularly our site management, field operatives and supply chain partners, for adhering to our safe systems of work on all work activities. It is fantastic to secure this award this year again but we must not rest on our laurels and remember that no matter how good our recent health & safety record is, we are involved in dangerous activities everyday. We are totally reliant on all our staff, self-supervised operatives and supply chain partners to follow documented health & safety procedures and safe systems of work.”
Martin Burke, senior HSQE manager at Bethell, added “I am delighted we have been awarded the prestigious RoSPA President’s Award, which means we have now received 12 consecutive RoSPA Gold Awards for Health and Safety, and I also wish to pass on congratulations and thanks to all Bethell staff and sub-contractors for helping us maintain this fantastic standard. However, it is vital that we do not allow complacency to conflict with our continually high safety standards, and whenever safety incidents occur, we have to ensure root causes are investigated so we can learn from these and action any improvements required.”
Julia Small, RoSPA’s Achievements Director, said: “This is a fantastic and well-deserved accomplishment. All our award entrants demonstrate their unwavering commitment and passion for keeping people safe at work. By receiving this recognition Bethell join like-minded businesses and organisations worldwide, who represent the very best in their approach to Health and Safety. I would like to add my personal thanks for all the work that it has taken to secure this well-deserved award – congratulations to all those involved, who champion and drive up Health and Safety standards every day. You are a fantastic example to others in your sector.”
Bethell is pleased to share that the Considerate Constructors Scheme ("CCS") has rated our Hoyles Lane Major Capital Project scheme as Excellent in all 3 categories, awarding us full marks in every category!
