Read moreThe demolition of the unpopular Manchester Road footbridge over the A62 dual carriageway in Oldham town centre was successfully completed in 2 consecutive weekends early in February which was one week ahead of schedule.
The 36 metre long glazed footbridge was removed in the first weekend road closure from Saturday night to Monday morning and during the following weekend closure the two distinctive access towers and covered ramps were removed down to ground level. Removal of reinforced concrete foundations and reinstatement works were carried out during off-peak closures during the week.
