A677/ A59 Link Road, Samlesbury, Preston

Bethell are part of a highways framework agreement with Lancashire County Council for the provision of surfacing works on the County’s roads. We were awarded the workscope of laying all the macadam and asphalt on the scheme having won a mini-competition with other framework partners.

The work was carried out in an overall six-week period, firstly laying road base and binder courses and then completing the works several months later during a return visit to lay the Hot Rolled Asphalt surface course.

The principal quantities involved laying over 8,000 tonnes of material including 16,000 square metres of HRA surface course, binder course and base course plus over 300 tonnes of regulating material at the complex tie-in points at the new junctions with the A677 and A59.
