Atlantic Park

Located on the former site of the Rolls Royce Engineering Works, the 52-acre Atlantic Park offers 325,000 sq. ft of warehouse space.

Bethell were employed to design and build 2 no. new IDNO-owned 11kV high voltage ring networks, which would supply 7 no. new substations located on site.

During the first phase of construction, Bethell disconnected 7 no. existing substations and 2 no. existing RMU’s in the grounds of the Primary to facilitate the construction of 4 new large industrial units at the park, with the remaining 3 no. substations to be constructed and commissioned in Phase 2 for a further 3 no. large units. Each of the seven units had its own substation, with Bethell installing 1.5km of HV & LV cable.

All substations were enclosed in a GRP building which Bethell supplied and installed.

The water works comprised of the design and build of a new 110mm barrier pipe water ring network to service 7 no. industrial units from an existing United Utilities 110mm PE main. Two points of connection were proposed, with one new 110 branch and one new 110m end-on connection to be used.

The large diameter water services were installed by the customer and were terminated internally with WRAS approved isolating valves. Bethell designed and built out the medium pressure gas connection, taking the supply off an existing gas main on a high-traffic road network. Due to the sensitivity of the road and to minimise interface with road users, these works were carried out out-of-hours.

Bethell met and liaised with all major stakeholders to ensure the connection went ahead as planned and within budget.
