Carrington Power Station
The new £800m Carrington Power Station is an 880 MW CCGT Power Station developed by Trafford Power to replace the coal fired station from the 1950s. It will deliver 3 times the output of the coal station on 50% of the land use.
Bethell were engaged by the EPC Contractor to carry out the programme of external finishing works, working around the sequenced commissioning and bringing into service of the plant. The scope of works included:
- Formation of carriageways and pedestrian footpaths to include installation of 6000m kerbs and edgings
- Installation of over 9000 tonnes tarmacadam to carriageways and footpaths
- Import and spread to level 3000 tonnes of decorative gravel to 9000m2 hard landscaping areas
- Import and level over 1800m3 top soil for soft landscaping areas.
- Installation of carriageway furniture to include crash barriers, bollards and traffic signs
- Installation of foul drainage systems to include man holes, drains and septic tank
- Installation of surface drainage to include drains, drainage channels (415m) and road gullies.
- CCTV inspection and cleaning of pre-installed drainage systems.
- Non-intrusive repairs to drainage lines where required.
- Installation of road markings to carriageways and parking areas.
- Seeding to soft landscaping areas (12,000m2) and planting of shrubs to planting scheme.
