Health and Safety

‘WORK SAFE – HOME SAFE’ is our uncompromising behavioural safety programme which was recently rebranded in 2021, following the success of our ‘Think Safe, Act Safe’ campaign that was first introduced into the company in 2008.

The message is highly visible in every place that we work and it underpins each and every activity undertaken by our workforce.

All our employees have attended half-day workshops designed to embed this initiative on-site and ensure health and safety is always put first. To ensure that this ethos is maintained, regular briefings are held each year to discuss best practices and attendance is mandatory for every employee. Similar briefings are organised for our Supply Chain Partners to ensure that the safety message is communicated at every level.

Our workforce is our greatest asset and our excellent safety record is a testament to our 350 employees who have embraced the ‘WORK SAFE – HOME SAFE’ programme through participation in safety forums, becoming Safety Representatives and enthusiastic hazard reporting.

Carbon Net Zero

We operate in an environmentally responsible manner and we do everything reasonably practicable to ensure the impact our works have on the environment is kept to a minimum.

Bethell has adopted and developed acceptable sustainable practices to mitigate harm to the environment and these sustainable construction methods are accredited under BS EN ISO 14001:2015.

We work closely with all stakeholders to investigate positive steps to avoid environmental damage such as the selection of sustainable materials, recycling materials, avoidance of air and noise pollution and reducing the carbon footprint of material deliveries.

Quality

More than two-thirds of our annual turnover is generated through repeat business with regular ‘blue chip’ clients who appreciate the professional service provided by Bethell.

We are extremely proud of the high standards we constantly produce and, through continuous review and improvement, our teams have developed robust and practical procedures that focus on delivering Quality.

Our Quality Management System is accredited to BS EN ISO 9001 and a specific Quality Plan is produced for every project we undertake which outlines how we will manage quality through control procedures, testing regimes and workmanship inspection records.

Geopal

Geopal is our digital real-time reporting platform, which allows our workforce to track assets, create records of site activity and report unsafe practices and hazards.

Geopal forms a key part of our Carbon Net Zero by 2050 strategy, as we transition to becoming a paperless organisation.
