Safe Dig Training

As a CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO), Bethell delivers in-house training courses at our head office training academy.
Safe Dig Training
As part of our “Work Safe Home Safe” initative, Bethell introduced safe dig training across the organisation to promote awareness of safe excavation techniques.
Through a blended mixture of classroom and practical learning, delegates are provided with knowledge and competence in safe digging practices, including using cable avoidance tools, understanding differing ground conditions, identifying buried apparatus before and after excavation, and protecting others in the vicinity of the works.

Sessions are self-delivered by Bethell’s HSQE team at our Kearsley head office and the purpose-built Highway Maintenance Academy at Salford City College.
The establishment of the purpose-built facility was supported by a sizeable investment made by Bethell towards the installation of concrete boxes with adjustable replica utilities and a deep excavation unit, allowing for the driving of sheet piles and installation of frames. Replica utilities are designed to aid the training of CAT & Genny use and awareness during the training course.
In the near future, Bethell aims to achieve CITB accreditation for our training courses at the facility.
