Celebrating 200 years of our nation's railway heritage!
Have you ever wondered what happens to our railways when it is no longer in use?
Read moreOn Sunday, a number of our Bethell team members got together to run, jog and walk the Wilmslow 10k, one of Greater Manchester’s most popular running events of the season! With the gorgeous weather beaming down on us, it was the perfect day to get out, put on our running shoes and beat the 10k to raise money for three incredible charities.
Our participants aimed to raise £30,000 for our nominated causes; Wood Street Mission, the Lighthouse Club and Endeavour Bolton. These charities were chosen due to the incredible work they do within our local community, ensuring families can provide the best possible outcomes for their children, protecting construction workers’ lives & sheltering those who have been affected by domestic abuse. The money we’ll raise for the event will help them ensure that they can keep their vital services open and freely accessible to those most in need.
In total, we didn’t raise £30,000… instead, we absolutely smashed our target, going above and beyond to reach £45,000 – 150% of our initial goal! It was a brilliant result and gave each of our participants and organisers something to celebrate for their hard efforts and work preparing for the event. As a result, this will mean £15,000 will be donated to each of our 3 charities, an incredible amount that will allow them to continue to fund their brilliant work.
And what a great day it was for our Family & Friends Social, where Bethell participants and supporters got together to celebrate and congratulate our participants who crossed the finish line. We set out a huge task of raising £30,000, but to raise £45,000 is just phenomenal, and we cannot thank our supply chain partners, suppliers, clients and individual sponsors enough. Without their support and generosity, we would not have been able to raise so much! We would especially like to mention our main sponsors of the event PJP Plant Hire, Kays Traffic Management, Easydig and Studleys who were so supportive.
Tim Kilroe, Bethell Group Chief Executive, who had participated in the 10k alongside his fellow directors, commented on what a success the event had been, “Well done Team Bethell – you should be all very proud of yourselves.”
