HSQE Advisor


Position: HSQE Advisor - Green Energy

Job Summary

Bethell are currently expanding across the whole Group, and as a result of this we are looking for a driven, experienced HSQE Advisor to join us and take control of all of the current Green Energy projects nationwide. The bulk of pipeline projects are EV chargepoint installations throughout the UK.

As our HSQE Advisor you will be responsible for promoting and embedding good practice throughout the Green Energy division and driving improvements to the health safety and wellbeing of all our colleagues and customers. The HSQE Advisor will help ensure that the company HSQE Management Systems meet the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 and the Lloyds Register NERS, WIRS & GIRS Standards.

Principal accountabilities


·Ensure all sites are inspected/audited and the appropriate data is uploaded & distributed to the appropriate people.

·Carry out Tool Box Talks & Safety Briefings when required

·Assist in the production of monthly HSQE reports.


·Help deal with enquiries from statutory bodies; HSE, EA and local authorities.

·Clearly demonstrate that to our clients and external stakeholder that we not only meet HSQE expectations, but also exceed them in terms of compliance with recognised codes of practice.

·Willingly participate in workshops, steering groups and any other public events both internally and externally to our clients and supply chain.


·Assist the site teams on HSQE matters and help them discharge their duties.

·Help the site teams with Risk Assessments & Method Statements

·Treat others fairly and openly with respect regardless of their position or status. Deal with enquiries professionally and within the stipulated timescales.

·Encourage effective ‘upward’ communication to establish reporting of unsafe conditions and practices.

·Work as part of a collaborative team, deal with HSQE problems quickly and effectively.


·Report and investigate any HSQE incidents with an even-handed, consistent approach.

·Must be an outstanding role model for H&S compliance and be prepared to passionately promote good H&S practice

·Always exercise a high degree of discretion regarding employee’s personal details

·Maintain standards of professional practice, ensuring behaviour complies with organisational values and organisation of work effectively to meet the demands of the role

Qualifications and Experience

·NEBOSH Certificate in Construction Health & Safety (Essential)

·NEBOSH/IEMA Environmental Qualification (Desired)

·Membership of IOSH

·NRSWA Supervisor Card

·CSCS Card

·EUSR Qualifications

·Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office 365

·Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Utilities or EV chargepoint HSQE supervisory position

Skills and knowledge

·Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001

·Working knowledge of Lloyds Register NERS, WIRS & GIRS

·Knowledge & understanding of The Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015

·Good knowledge of utilities working practices

·Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·Effective learner & agile thinker

·Ability to establish and maintain relationships at all levels within the business

·Able to work under pressure, able to work to tight deadlines, able to respond to change, flexibility and strong commitment to customer service excellence.

·Full Driving License
