Bethell first contractor to commence work at Pier 2 on phase two of Manchester Airport’s £1.3bn Transformation Programme!

As part of our ongoing strategic partnership with MAG (Manchester Airports Group), Bethell has been awarded two contracts by Mace as part of Manchester Airport’s phase two £440m investment to “transform the passenger experience” at the UK’s third largest airport.

The works, with a combined value of over £5m, will see Bethell deliver upgrades to both airside and landside infrastructure at the airport.

The first award, with a value of £1.85m, will see Bethell install 1.5km of temporary airside high-security fencing around the perimeter of the Pier 2 extension to Terminal 2, which doubled in size following a recent expansion in 2021. Bethell will be the first contractor on-site for the Pier 2 project.

In addition, Bethell will deliver another £3.4m of works as part of the second contract award, involving sub and super-structure works for ongoing refurbishment of the existing Terminal 2 building.

The award of these two contracts underlines the significance of Bethell’s contribution to the transformation programme at Manchester Airport.

Mike O’Connor, Bethell Construction Airports Contract Manager

Mike O’Connor, Bethell Construction Airports Contract Manager, commented on the award, saying: “The award of these two contracts underlines the significance of Bethell’s contribution to the transformation programme at Manchester Airport.”

Both schemes will be scheduled to be completed at the end of 2024, ready to open up to passengers in 2025.
